These controls are terrible. It be better to do a soft hardwire to the brain or a hosas type set up. This would be difficult to move and aim worse than driving a task

I always wonder, for two stick setup like this, where is the thruster lever? Like, when setting the thruster to Idle, shouldnt it have thruster throttle lever of some kind? I thought pushing the left stick forward and backward is the thruster throttle lever since I saw in hathaway flash cockpit scene, the guy push the left stick forward as if to increase thruster speed to max and then fly upward. I read Gelgoog piloting manual, this kinda similar to that but Gelgoog have a dedicate thruster throttle lever rather than just two stick. So Gelgoog cockpit is easy to understand.This is my burning question I have.

Select a limb down its joint chain and using the lever to “swing” the leg using a manual operation. The Mobile suit’s balancers will attempt to keep the unit from falling over or losing its heading, so it will recover automatically after you’ve operated the leg to perform the kick. You can get a sense of how where the select points can be chosen for manual lever operation by Google image searching “FK leg control” and you’ll see spherical points on the hip, knee, and ankle. You’d have to quickly switch the control operations down from the full unit, to just the leg in order to swing it manually, just at the right time, but a very skilled pilot could use that at a perfectly opportune moment, hence why it’s something that Char himself is exclusively shown doing. The narrative significance of this is profound as well, given that the extent of the controls basically just changes the heading direction and speed of a mobile suit, meaning that someone like Char has mastered the operation of the machine he uses so fully, that he’s able to switch from general controls to granular one’s in a split second in order to perform a kick. It demonstrates the extremely wide gap in skill between a normal mobile suit pilot, and a skilled ace, who’s also a newtype.

Thank you, I really appreciate that! I took a lot of time to make sure that I followed the published notes on the controls to apply to scenarios. That was much harder of a task than I went in thinking it would be.

"Somehow Loum was destroyed". The levels of destruction in the early One Year War make no sense and they are not really addressed by the various Gundam shows. All of that because the original series mentioned how half the human population was killed in the war. Sometimes dumb elements of the original are simply dumb elements of the original and doubling down on them is not helping the story. Especially considering how the sequels of Gundam have the colonies miraculously repopulated.
